  • Have a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Be called and committed to serve students and their families in the local church
  • Master’s Degree (or completing a Master’s Degree) from an accredited seminary or at least a Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in pastoral or student ministry from an accredited college or university
  • Agree with the Current Baptist Faith and Message
  • Strong people and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to work well with others – a team player
  • Ability to listen effectively and communicate clearly
  • Passionately teach God’s Word and a desire to disciple students
  • Demonstrate servant-leadership
  • Teachable, conscientious, motivated, and a self-starter
  • Pass a background check and a financial credit check

Student Ministry Responsibilities

  • Develop a student ministry strategy that aligns with the vision and mission of the church
  • Direct, develop, and evaluate comprehensive youth and college ministries that emphasize the spiritual growth of students
  • Propose and manage budgets for the youth and college ministries
  • Oversee youth and college Bible Studies and Wednesday evening youth discipleship
  • (Primarily Youth) Plan, organize, and coordinate mission trips (summer), ministry/servant evangelism projects,
    outreach opportunities, retreats, conferences, events, and fundraisers
  • Recruit, train, equip, and empower adult leaders and student leaders
  • Plan, involve students in, and lead the weekly Sunday night church-wide student worship service
  • Support and serve students in their school setting
  • (Primarily Youth) Be intentional in ministering to parents by engaging, supporting, and involving in the student ministry
  • (College)Partner with the Baptist Campus Ministry at Eastern Kentucky University


Social Media Responsibilities

  • Be knowledgeable of and use social media platforms used by students
  • Using social media (mainly Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Church Website): Equip, organize, and work closely with a social media volunteer team to create, publish, and share consistent, relevant content (e.g., original text, images, video or HTML) that creates meaningful moments of connection for our online community that aligns with the vision and mission of our church and raises awareness of the church, its programs, and activities
  • Interact on a regular basis with our online community through intentional messaging, comment, and response management.


General Responsibilities

  • Support the vision and mission of the church by working closely with staff and leaders to fulfill the church’s vision
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings
  • Attend and participate in Sunday morning and Sunday evening worship services and other church events
  • Willing to preach when asked
  • Perform baptisms, weddings, and funerals as needed
  • Other duties assigned by the Senior Pastor
