Minister of Students and Worship

Qualifications

  • Have a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Be called and committed to leading congregational worship and serving students and their families in the local church
  • Knowledge of computer-based music platforms used by churches
  • Ability to read music and to assist all instrumentalists and vocalists as needed
  • Degree from an accredited seminary or an accredited college or seminary
  • Experience in leading worship and working with students
  • Agree with the Current Baptist Faith and Message
  • Experience with working with all kinds of individuals
  • Strong organization skills in the church
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to listen effectively and communicate clearly
  • Passionate about leading worship, teaching God’s Word and discipling students
  • Demonstrate servant-leadership
  • Teachable, conscientious, motivated, and a self-starter
  • Be a faithful giver to the church
  • Pass a background check and a financial credit check

 

Responsibilities/ Summary of Duties

Worship:

  • Direct the planning, organizing, and evaluation of a comprehensive music ministry, to include praise teams, an audio/visual team, and a seasonal choir (Easter, Christmas, and an occasional worship choir) 
  • Plan and coordinate the Sunday morning worship service with the senior pastor for the purpose of leading it, along with the senior pastor
  • Organize, create, and supervise different worship ministry teams
  • Recruit and oversee the scheduling of volunteers within the music ministry (including student creative ministry teams, audio/visual, praise teams, and children’s choirs) for services and special events 
  • Ensure the audio-visual team has what it needs for Sunday morning services or for other church related special services/events 
  • Lead congregational singing in a blended service that engages people in worship 
  • Provide support for the student-led Sunday evening services (assist with rehearsals, create teams, mentor, participate in, ensure audio-visual needs are met, and any other duties as needed) 
  • Incorporate special music in morning worship services, which includes the student ministry creative arts team as needed 
  • Be a resource for the children’s and pre-school choir 
  • Be responsible for the music budget and follow the financial guidelines and procedures of the church 
  • Find a fill-in person (preferably within RHBC) when on vacation/sick 
  • Stay up to date on current music/worship methods and materials, utilizing them where appropriate 

Student Ministry:

  • Develop a student ministry strategy that aligns with the vision and mission of the church
  • Direct, develop, and evaluate comprehensive youth and college ministries that emphasize the spiritual growth of students
  • Propose and manage budgets for the youth and college ministries
  • Oversee Sunday morning youth and college Bible Studies and Wednesday evening youth discipleship
  • (Primarily Youth) Plan, organize, and coordinate mission trips (summer), ministry/servant evangelism projects,
    outreach opportunities, retreats, conferences, events, and fundraisers
  • Recruit, train, equip, and empower adult leaders and student leaders
  • Plan, involve students in, and lead the weekly Sunday night church-wide student-led worship service
  • Support and serve students in their school setting
  • (Primarily Youth) Be intentional in ministering to parents by engaging, supporting, and involving them in the student ministry
  • (College) Partner with the Baptist Campus Ministry at Eastern Kentucky University

 

 General Responsibilities:

  • Support the vision and mission of the church by working closely with staff and leaders to fulfill the church’s vision
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings
  • Attend and participate in Sunday morning and Sunday evening worship services and other church events
  • Willing to preach when asked
  • Perform baptisms, weddings, and funerals as needed
  • Other duties assigned by the Senior Pastor
